Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai. Jamal finds himself on the game show “Who wants to be a Millionaire”, and this film tells the story of his life that has lead up to this point. The film is a truly amazing, and a visual experience worthy of the praise that it received from the major awards. The film’s story is so unique, and different that it is a must see for anyone. There are some enjoyable moments, and there are some sad moments. Mostly, this film gives us an insight into what life must be like living in the slums of Mumbai. This film is a romance story, and story of adventure. You want to see Jamal succeed, and at the same time you can’t believe the life that surrounds him. It is so believable, yet so shocking to see what daily life in the slums resembles.
This film is a true surprise. Audiences will love it for it’s heart warming depth, which is particulary impressive given the nature of the theme that surrounds the film. There are many truly depressing underlying stories, the way in which Director Danny Boyle has turned this into a unique, and enjoyable film is to be commended.
What makes Slumdog Millionaire outstanding is not only the story, but the way in which the story is so craftfully filmed. There is breath taking moments. There are hysterical moments. The story is enjoyable, and it is easy to feel for the characters. The way in which colour is captured is remarkable, and beautiful, the costume and set are gritty, and amazing. This film deserves every bit of praise that it receives.
The Blu-Ray release of this fine movie allows us to enjoy the film in 1080p. This truly allows the viewer to enjoy the grit, and beauty that this film presents. The audio comes in the form of a 5.1 DTS-HD master track mixing English and Hindi dialogue. And the disc come with some great extras which you can read about below.
